Financial Assistance Programs
Programme de soutien au travail autonome ( S.T.A.) (Self-employment Support Program)
Objectives
Through the S.T.A. program, the LDC will promote the creation of businesses with a potential to increase the regions economic activity, improve the quality of products and services, and build upon a portfolio of regional businesses.
The LDCs mandate is to
- develop the entrepreneurial culture of the selected promoters;
- assist in the development and creation of businesses that show good potential for success;
- promote local businesses diversification.
Eligibility Criteria
First, at least one the following criteria must be met:
- Be an income security recipient;
- Be an employment insurance recipient;
- Having been unemployed in the past 36 months;
- Having received maternity leave benefits in the past 60 months
(without going back to work);
- Individuals without employment and financial assistance ;
- workers with unstable employment.
In addition, the applicant must meet the following requirements:
- Have an entrepreneur profile;
- Demonstrate motivation for his future as an entrepreneur;
- Have skills or a certain experience in relation to the project;
- Invest a financial contribution of at least 20% of the project cost;
- Commit to work mainly at his business start-up;
- Be free from any bankruptcy judgement;
- Must agree to be followed-up by the coordinator throughout the development of his project, for a maximum of 2 years;
- Must not be receiving work income replacement benefits from CSST or SAAQ;
- Must not be involved in a dispute or legal action;
- Must not be a refugee status claimant;
- Must not hold actual or eventual liabilities.
It should be noted that the STA program of the Gatineau Valley LDC is available only for businesses to be established on the territory served by the LDC.
